The Children as Designers Project engages children in a consideration of all the design issues involved in the production of a ceramic mug, including shape, function, size, materials, handle and decoration. Children can learn a great deal from this single project that crosses many curriculum boundaries but focuses particularly on the design elements of art and technology, as defined by the National Curriculum.
Using a new dye-sublimation process we ensure that the mugs are of a high quality with a permanent, glossy finish which is also microwave and dishwasher friendly.
The Children as Designers Project is available during the spring and summer terms. Introductory notes and inspiration sheets are provided with the project to assist teachers and children to gain the maximum benefit from the project by providing suggested ideas and starting points for creating thoughtful, imaginative and well executed designs. The project culminates in the children producing original designs to be applied to the outer surface of a ceramic mug. The mugs are all printed by APFS using a high quality heat transfer process.
From preliminary brainstorming to finished product, children will enjoy the process of creating a piece of functional art that can either be a treasured gift for parents and other relations, or taken home and used by the pupil themselves. The project process
What you need to do…
- Request a FREE, no obligation sample pack
- Complete and return the enclosed order form to receive a FREE project pack containing everything you need to administer the project.
Then…
- Kids have a great time creating their designs. They take them home to their parents along with an order form, leaflet and letter. Parents return the artwork with the payment, and the school despatches it to us by FREE courier.
- By an agreed date, which will usually represent approximately a three week turnaround, the finished items and the original artworks are returned, packed in classes ready for easy distribution.
